DaCo: Dance Collaboration Lab
DaCo: Dance Collaboration Lab is an educational, performance-oriented choreographic residency developed by Angela Blumberg. The residency supports choreographic practices by providing emerging choreographers with resources such as studio space, choreographic workshops, mentorship, access to dancers, and consultations with professionals from the industry.
DaCo’s goal is to support choreographers in their creative process and to offer tools that are meaningful and accelerate their ability to realize their choreographic ideas. The residency seeks to help young choreographers lay the foundation for a work, they feel strongly about and confident in taking further.
DaCo's first edition took place from August 29 - September 9, 2022. Fourteen dance artists embarked on a two-week choreographic residency, which culminated in a work-in-progress showing open to the public on September 9th. Sharing works-in-progress with the public provided a rare opportunity to gain insight into the creative choreographic process. DaCo's vision is to foster a dialogue between creators and viewers so that both parties can deepen their understanding of creating and perceiving dance. We hope you can join us next year!
